So, what is it with secretaries?

Ok, I do understand if you been in an industry, or if you have worked in an office, that there is that one girl, she doesn’t have to be overly attractive, but at the same time, she does appeal and dresses in a way that is smart and professional.

These girls are normally fully aware that they have the eye of the male workforce. How a guy’s eyes will follow them around a room, whenever they enter it. Despite how women may object to this (now days) it is still an ego trip, and many still take the opportunity to dress up to take advantage of this ritual. I can even admit that I have, (or at least used to) fell victim to this practice, as work (for many) is a dull place, and anything breaking the monotony was welcomed. The odd thing is, that outside work, these girls are just another person you past in the street, without giving them a second thought. I guess at work, maybe because you are in a closed environment that has “limited options”.

That only explains the girl at work situation, the dress code of smart and professional that also gives a slight power dynamic. Our question here on college-uniform, is why the fuck, do people call secretary clothing a uniform? You can find this on our partner websites and across the internet, you can even look it up on porn tube sites, and listed under uniform you can find secretary.

In some cases where a workplace has a uniform, such as the military or a large corporate, it is possibly that aids and secretaries may have a uniform. But a uniform outside of that of education institutions, and the military could be just classed as work clothes.

For example, say you work at a large supermarket change such as Walmart in the USA or Asda, in the UK. A secretary has the option of wearing her own work attire, then her work clothes could be “considered” uniform, if she doesn’t have to dress the same as the rest of the work force, so maybe this is why it could be considered uniform.

However, the first meaning of the word uniform is, “remaining the same in all cases and at all times; unchanging in form or character.” Aka consistency. This would say that everyone wears the same, to a strict dress code. Which would suggest that secretaries that do have choice in what to wear, and therefore dress to reflect their personality, mood, youth or sex appeal, do not wear a uniform.

Now here on college-uniform.com, we have some girls that have shot photo sets and videos in secretary clothing, but we have never stated that it was a uniform… because it’s not in our view or ever has been.

Do you agree?
